WP1 – Measurement of active devices and circuits

This work package will develop methods for the characterisation of active devices and circuits particularly HPA, operating under realistic conditions (i.e. non-50 Ω) at frequencies that include the millimetre-wave bands (e.g. to at least 200 GHz). The characterisation will include the linearity response of the devices and encompass multi-physics methods, mixed domain measurements (combining digital- and analogue-domains), new probing techniques and assessments of antennas integrated on-chip.
The WP is divided into four Tasks, the aims of which are:

  • Task 1.1. to develop characterisation methods for active devices and circuits operating in non-50 Ω loading conditions and up to 220 GHz.
  • Task 1.2. to develop techniques for multi-physics and mixed-domain characterisation of active devices operating under non-50 Ω loading conditions and up to 220 GHz.
  • Task 1.3. to develop new probing techniques and methods for characterising on-chip integrated antennas.
  • Task 1.4. to demonstrate the characterisation of active devices and circuits using the methods developed in Task 1.1, Task 1.2 and Task 1.3.
